Convective Outlook - Sunday 16th June 2024

Discussion: A Low risk across majority of England, Scotland, Wales & Ireland today as widespread heavy showers develops possibly intense at times but staying quite localised. CAPE levels expected to exceed 600 - 1000J/KG, which may allow for a few thunderstorms to kick off particularly stronger ones within the SLGHT risk. Lightning should stay quite sporadic but could become frequent at times. The area of interest issued for Scotland was due to the high CAPE levels but some models do not have initiation therefore we cannot issue a SLGHT here, if initiation does kick off, we could see a few thunderstorms within this area too.
